La Notte degli Archivi 2022: Giulia Caminito at Palazzo Biandrate
On Friday 10 June, at 19.00 and 21.00, the courtyard of Palazzo Biandrate will host the seventh edition of La Notte degli Archivi (i.e. the Archives Night), the opening night of the Archivissima festival.
This year, it will be the writer Giulia Caminito, finalist of the Strega Prize and winner of the Campiello Prize 2021, who will give voice to the stories of the Reale Mutua Archives and Historical Museum with her story "Come il manoscritto di Jo March" ("Like Jo March's manuscript").
The destructive force of fire and the atavistic fear generated by fires, the sense of loss, devastation and atrocious suffering that flames bring with them give the writer the cue for a historical reflection, with hints of personal experiences, on the condition and social role of women, penalised, above all in the past - but still today in a different way - by uncomfortable and dangerous fashions such as crinoline, which put their safety at risk and prevented them from moving and carrying out activities other than the traditional ones of looking after the home and children.
It will be Giulia Caminito herself who will read her text, at 7 pm and again at 9 pm. Book your place by sending an e-mail to museostorico@realemutua.it: the event is totally free!
