Disegnare la città: eclecticism and Art Nouveau in the Reale Mutua Historical Archives
October 1st sees the start of "Disegnare la città" (Drawing the City), the journey organised by the Accademia Albertina to discover the eclectic and Art Nouveau face of Turin and the creative energy that transformed the city in the years of the Belle Époque.
In the transition from capital city to industrial city, Turin's urban aesthetics was the protagonist of an extraordinary metamorphosis: the aim of the project is precisely to investigate this process of transformation, through an itinerary made of architectural drawings and precious and fascinating decorative projects, usually inaccessible to the public.
The exhibition at the Pinacoteca Albertina is accompanied by a rich programme of events and exhibitions, including the exhibition "L'eclettismo e il Liberty nell'Archivio Storico Reale Mutua" (Eclecticism and Art Nouveau in the Reale Mutua Historical Archive), associated with the classic tour of the Historical Museum, which curious visitors can visit free of charge every Saturday and Sunday from 2 October.
In the rooms of its Archives, the Museum will present an exclusive selection of documents and papers dating back to the Belle Époque, silent witnesses of the Turin style of that period.
During the exhibition the documents will give way to period images and original plans of some buildings of the Belle Époque period owned by Reale Immobili, which still adorn the streets of Turin.
But that's not all: the Reale Mutua Historical Museum will be the final stop of the tour to the rediscovery of Liberty on foot and by historical tram, organized by the Cultural Association "Le vie del tempo" and the Associazione Torinese Tram Storici on October 9th, 2021, January 27th and February 27th, 2022 at 3 pm.
